Recently five students from GY International Program in Guangzhou have won top prizes in the UK Chemistry Olympiad (UKChO), cementing the school's reputation for academic excellence.
Kyle, Tommy, and David won gold medals, Terry won a silver medal, and Youyou won a bronze medal in the global competition. They achieved this feat by outshining competitors from over 230 international and key high schools in China.
The UKChO, organized by the Royal Society of Chemistry, is the oldest and most prestigious high school chemistry competition in the UK, aimed at extending the curriculum and nurturing students' chemistry thinking and abilities. Winning participants can gain a competitive advantage when applying to world-renowned schools, making it an essential competition for those pursuing majors in fields such as chemistry, medicine, materials, and pharmacy. In 2018, the competition officially entered China, providing more choices for Chinese students' academic activities and a platform for Chinese and British students to compete.
